Bingham Arts Academy Now Open for Pre-Enrollment

We are currently inviting parents to pre-enroll their children at Bingham Arts Academy for the 2011-2012 school year. Once your pre-enrollment form is received, a school representative will contact you to discuss enrollment options.

Pre-enrollment is now open to all students residing in the respective school district. Bingham Arts Academy can accommodate students entering into kindergarten to 8th grade. It is imperative that parents submit enrollment applications for each student planning to enroll, as early as possible.

Bingham Arts Academy implements a thematic, interactive program that incorporates multiple learning styles. Mornings are dedicated to building solid skills in the core subject areas of reading, writing, math and science. While the afternoons are reserved for foreign language, music, physical education and a daily 90-minute block of Bingham Arts Academy’s Paragon curriculum.

The Paragon curriculum is interdisciplinary, engaging, discovery-based and multi-cultural. The hands-on approach of Paragon addresses the multiple intelligences and individual learning styles. This enhances students’ communication skills, analysis and self-expression.

Bingham Arts Academy also offers an emotionally and physically safe learning environment, access to computers and technology, committed and qualified teachers and staff and encourage parental involvement. Teachers will conduct regular goal setting conferences with individual children and their parents, to ensure the student’s success.

Bingham Arts Academy Hosts the Christmas Giving Tree Project, Bottle and Food Drive

ALPENA, Mich. – During the month of December, Bingham Arts Academy (BAA) will host the Christmas Giving Tree Project. 

The giving tree is located outside the BAA office and decorated with apples. Each apple has a list of goods for a family in need. BAA families choose an apple off of the tree, purchase the items listed on the apple and bring the items to school, where they are wrapped and given to a BAA family. 

BAA is also hosting a bottle drive, to purchase items for the giving tree that are not donated. All food drive items will be donated to the local soup kitchen or be used to create food baskets for BAA families in need. BAA will help 20 families this year.


Michigan Association of Public School Academies Recognizes Bingham Arts with the Charter School of Excellence Award

BinghamSchoolofYrAlpena, Mich. – The Michigan Association for Public School Academies (MAPSA) recognized Bingham Arts Academy as a “School of Excellence”, during the 13th Annual Michigan Charter School Conference. Bingham received this recognition for making significant gains in closing the academic gap and increasing academic success. The conference held November 1st and 2nd, is one of largest conventions for charter school professionals nationwide.

“We are very proud and honored to receive this recognition,” said Sarah Prevo, Chief Administrative Officer of Bingham. “At Bingham we strive to ensure that every child has an opportunity to succeed. This award symbolizes that we are making great gains, in our mission.”

Bingham Arts Academy serves 204 Kindergarten through 8th grade students. Bingham Arts Academy Students, Scheduled to Host Paragon Night: The Ancient World

ALPENA, Mich. – Bingham Arts Academy (BAA) students will present the Ancient World at the Paragon Night, on October 13, at 6 p.m., at the BAA gymnasium.

Paragon Night is an opportunity for the community to see what BAA students have been studying in Paragon class. The evening will include performances, artwork, and project displays that reflect student’s ideas about the Ancient World.

Students in the Young Five program, Ms. Koproski kindergarten class, second grade and fifth grade will answer essential questions such as, who am I, what do people need, why did people start to farm, how does culture flow from a river, how do we recognize a civilization and how do we unlock the mysteries of a civilization?

Parents should check with teachers, to see if their child show be rehearsing lines or songs for their presentation.
